Merchant terms.

These terms govern a business’s use of Provenance to connect checkout systems, issue Proofs and operate merchant tools. They take effect when an authorized representative accepts them during business setup.

Your authority and account

You confirm that you can bind the business, provide accurate setup information and authorize the checkout connections you add. Keep staff access current, protect connected-system credentials and remove access promptly when a person no longer needs it. You are responsible for activity performed through your merchant workspace.

Purchase evidence and Proofs

Provenance creates Proofs from completed purchase evidence supplied by your connected systems. You must not fabricate, alter, suppress or misclassify transactions to create a misleading Proof. A Proof records established purchase facts; it does not by itself guarantee product authenticity, current ownership, condition, warranty coverage, return eligibility or legal title.

Your responsibilities to customers

You remain responsible for the sale, goods and services, receipts, taxes, refunds, returns, warranties and legally required customer notices. Provenance does not become the seller or payment processor. If a purchase record is wrong, use the connected checkout system and available Provenance controls to correct or append the supported fact; do not ask a customer to rely on a record you know is incomplete.

Privacy and permitted access

Use customer information only for a permitted business purpose and in accordance with applicable law and the privacy policy. You may access Proofs for your own sales through the merchant tools; you may not obtain a customer’s private account, purchases from other merchants or full payment credentials. Do not place sensitive personal information in product names, modifiers or other checkout text sent to Provenance.

Safe operation

Keep locations, counters, presentation devices and physical Proof tap points accurate. Pause or report a sticker or device when it is lost, damaged, moved or no longer controlled by the business. Follow the provider-specific setup and acceptance steps before enabling a customer channel.

Availability, plans and changes

Connected checkout providers, networks and devices can be unavailable or change their services. Provenance may pause issuance or a connection when evidence, authorization or safe operation cannot be established. Any paid plan, fees and limits shown in an accepted order or billing screen form part of these terms. Material changes will use a new terms version and any renewed acceptance required by law or by the change.

Suspension, closure and retained records

Provenance may suspend access to protect customers, the business or the service, or when these terms are breached. Ending a connection or workspace stops future operation but does not rewrite issued Proofs, append-only history, security records or evidence that must remain for legal and integrity purposes.
