Customer terms.

These terms govern a customer’s use of a Provenance account, saved Proofs, Things and sharing features. They take effect when you accept them while creating or accessing an account.

What a Proof means

A Proof is a durable record of purchase facts received from an issuing merchant’s connected checkout system. It can include later recorded events such as a refund or return. A Proof is not, by itself, a guarantee of authenticity, current ownership, condition, warranty coverage, return eligibility or legal title.

Your account

Provide accurate account information, protect your sign-in methods and tell us if you believe the account has been compromised. You are responsible for actions taken through your account. Do not use the service to impersonate another person, obtain records you are not entitled to see or interfere with the service.

Merchants and purchase disputes

The merchant remains responsible for the sale, goods, services, returns, refunds, warranties and taxes. Provenance records facts made available through the connected system; it does not process the payment or decide a dispute between you and a merchant. Contact the merchant when the underlying transaction is wrong.

Sharing, transfers and support records

You choose when to create an Item Passport, support packet or transfer invitation. Review what will be shared and send access only to the intended recipient. A transfer in Provenance records the accepted account-to-account event; it does not replace any legally required transfer, registration or physical delivery.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Provenance available and accurate, but connected services, networks and merchant systems can fail or provide incomplete information. We may change or discontinue features, suspend misuse or restrict access where needed to protect customers, merchants or the service. Material changes to these terms will use a new version and any renewed acceptance required by law or by the nature of the change.

Account closure and surviving records

You may schedule account closure from the privacy controls. Closure anonymizes the account and revokes active customer sharing, but it does not rewrite issued Proofs or merchant transaction evidence. Provisions that by their nature concern retained records, responsibility or disputes continue after closure.
